小作文(30mins, 190 words)

The bar chart illustrates the three categories of the total number of minutes between 1995 and 2002 of the UK telephone calls. Overall, the local fixed line remains the highest.

In general, the minutes (in billions) of local fixed line in the years from 1995 to 2002 saw a slow fluctuation. To be more specific, it increased steadily from approximately 72 to 90, which started from 1995 and hit its highest figure in 1999. After that, it decline slightly and backed to its initial figure (to 72)(这个to加括号是可以这样用的嘛...) in 2002.

On the other hand(可以单独用嘛?), overall, the figures in categories of national and international fixed line and mobiles increased during the given period. Compared to the national and international fixed line, mobiles rose sharply by about 40 billions from 1995 to 2002, whereas the other only grew slightly by roughly 28 billions over the period.

To sum up, it can be clearly seen that the categories of national and international fixed line and mobiles grow throughout the given period, while local fixed line remain the same figure totally. Besides, mobiles are not a popular type of call and it keep the lowest.(这里结尾也是和开头一样用一般现在时嘛...)

大作文(40mins, 293 words)

Competitiveness is considered to be an important quality for people in many societies.

How do you think it affects individuals?

Is it a positive or negative trend?

这是一篇report类型的议论文,但是组合的类型不常见。

这篇作文在写之前,观点方面确实构思了很久才想出来...

Nowadays, in many societies, competitiveness becomes a significant quality for people. From where I stand, two aspects of individuals can be affected, and I think it is a negative trend.

On the one hand, people will become smarter due to living in a competitive social environment. In another word, people have to learn more knowledge than before to gain a good life. For example, in a competitive society, employees are required to be more professional especially in some popular companies like Google, Amazon, Apple and so on. Therefore, people need study continually and become smarter, otherwise they can not find a high-salary job to support their life goal.

However, on the other hand, a competitive society makes people feel tired and busy. To be more specific, people need to learn new knowledge again and again to become excellent enough to adapt the social environment. In this case, people may surprisingly find that they have no enough leisure time to do their favourite things. Thus, mental issues like stress and frustration will occur in people and they will lose their life hope.

In my opinion, it is a negative trend that societies are requiring people to be more competitive. Although people can become smart in such societies, health is more important for them because everything is based on it. In addition, a competitive society means that a country have no enough social resources for every citizens. By contrast, citizens are not required to be extremely competitive to live a good life in develop country.

In conclusion, in high-competitive societies, people may become smarter, whereas they have to be tired and busy. Considering the aspect of people's health and country's wealth, I firmly believe that societies become competitive is not a positive trend.
