Many museums and historical sites are mainly visited by tourists rather than local people. (2021/5/22)
Why is this?
What can be done to encourage local people to visit museums and historical sites?
Nowadays, tourists are the main people to visit many museums and historical sites, whereas fewer local people like to do that. From where I stand, I suppose that two reasons can be seen and governments should take some actions to solve it.(3分钟)
The firstly obvious reason is that museums and historical sites are too common for local people. For example, people who are born from there may probably live in such places for a long time since their childhood, so it is quiet common for them because it is just their living areas. Thus, they may feel boring and unnecessary to visit them again when they grow up.(11分钟) In contrast, these places are unknown for tourists, so they may feel fresh to visit them.(13分钟) In addition, too many commercial factors cause this issue. For example, some tourism companies would like to use many traditional elements in their products, which are used to be sell in the museums and historical sites by holding varies activities to attract tourists.(20分钟) However, such elements may not be a main feature in the local culture. Therefore, local people may not accept them and feel no worth visiting. (22分钟)
In my opinion, governments should take the responsibly to encourage local people to go to museums and historical sites. Firstly, they should combine the new elements with traditional culture in such places. For example, they can use VR technology to design traditional games to attract local people to pick up their childhood memories, or show the future plan of the place to let citizens come there to know more about their city.(28分钟) Besides, policies should be made in tourism to prevent companies from using false information in museums and historical sites. Thus, companies may show more upside effects in inheriting local culture.(32分钟)
In conclusion, the lack of creativity and the behaviors of commerce are the main reasons why less local people like to visit museums and historical sites. In my views, government should join creative elements and policies on it to solve this issue.
